Choosing interventions for changing target behaviours

The CONSULT page guides you through the process of identifying and analysing target behaviours, to help you see what needs to change to implement PREP2. This analysis is organised into Capability, Opportunity, and Motivation.

If you need to change staff Capability, you can use interventions such as:

  • Education – such as self-directed learning on this website
  • Training – such as seminars and hands-on workshops, you can download presentations to use for staff training from the RESOURCES page
  • Enablement – such as equipment and documentation

If you need to change staff Opportunity, you can use interventions such as:

  • Training – such as seminars and hands-on workshops, you can download presentations to use for staff training from the RESOURCES page
  • Environmental restructuring – such as prompts in the documentation to obtain SAFE scores, and including weekend staff in training so that SAFE and NIHSS scores are obtained on weekends
  • Enablement – such as equipment and documentation

If you need to change staff Motivation, you can use interventions such as:

  • Education – such as self-directed learning on this website to help staff understand the benefits of PREP2
  • Persuasion – to help staff see the target behaviour as part of their role and worth doing
  • Modelling – provide examples in your setting to show staff that the target behaviour is achievable and worthwhile
